Low Back Pain

What is Low Back Pain?

Low back pain (LBP) can affect the back anywhere below the ribs and above the legs. This is the most common form of physical disability. An estimated 80 percent of all Americans will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. It is one of the top reasons that Americans see their doctor. Low back pain is a large medical and financial burden. It is second only to upper respiratory problems as a symptom-related reason for visits to the physician. Low back pain may reflect nerve or muscle irritation or bone lesions.
